While cancellations by Hosts are rare, and some cancellations are beyond a Host’s control, certain cancellations by Hosts can disrupt guest plans and undermine confidence in our community. For that reason, under certain circumstances, if the Host cancels a confirmed stay reservation, or if the Host is found to be responsible for a cancellation under this Policy, Airbnb may impose fees and other consequences. The fees and other consequences set out in this Policy are intended to reflect the costs and other impacts of these cancellations on guests, the broader Host community and Airbnb. In imposing these fees and consequences, they seek to create an environment where guests can book with confidence, knowing that their travel plans are unlikely to be disrupted by a last-minute cancellation by their Host. They also want to encourage Hosts to only cancel reservations when it is absolutely necessary, so they can maintain a high level of service for guests.
