The average person in Tucson can afford 12.61 square meters less space in 2020 compared to 2016, or about 135 square feet of available property for that same amount of money. This means the population is being squeezed into smaller dwellings at a higher cost per month and they are spending an increasingly larger percentage on rent each year as prices continue to rise across the U.S., specifically here in Arizona’s 8th city with the worst change by affordability index according to study released this week from Trulia-Homesight data analysts.
Researchers found that the average person in Tucson, Arizona can afford 12.61 fewer square meters of property than someone living there two years ago because rent has increased by 1% and salaries have decreased by 2%.
